“Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed.”Independence Day is marked as the occasion to celebrate the countless sacrifices and struggles our freedom fighters.Independence Day celebrations at school often mean a beautifully decorated campus in ribbons and balloons of the national flag’s colours, students proudly singing the anthem and looking forward to present some amazing dance and song performances.The pandemic has confined the students to their homes, but it cannot dampen their patriotic spirit and pride for the nation. In the times of virtual learning, Aadharshila Vidyapeeth School has remodelled the Independence Day rituals to keep the fervour of this important day alive in students, parents and staff members.The celebration of 75th Independence Day was organised on the virtual platform on August 14,2021 for classes Pre-School to XII..The only live part of the online I-day event was the flag hoisting ceremony and a speech by the principal. Rest of the content was pre-recorded. The programme had varying events which included dancing, singing and poetry recitation, that were based on the feeling of patriotism. The students expressed the real essence of ‘Freedom’ through beautiful and energetic performances which enthralled the audience.The celebration culminated with a beautiful message; “Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and respected else just like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.”
